Julian Alvarez, the Argentine national team striker, spoke about his wonderful goal that led "the Tango" to open the scoring against Switzerland, confirming that winning a difficult match in this way gives the team a great morale boost.

Alvarez said in statements reported by the Argentine newspaper "Ole" after qualifying for the World Cup semi-finals: "There was great relief, we are very happy. We tried until the end even though we were playing against a team with one less player, and we knew the goal would come".

He added: "Winning in this way gives us a lot of strength, we would have preferred to win in another way, but the most important thing is to continue progressing".

Alvarez scored a wonderful goal with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area that pierced the Swiss goalkeeper's difficult angle, breaking the opponent's defensive resilience and giving Argentina the lead at a crucial moment in the match.

Regarding the criticisms and talk that arose after the match against Egypt, the Argentine striker replied: "There is always a lot of talk, but we must focus on what concerns us and not pay attention to what is said on social media".

Alvarez's goal against Switzerland marks a strong return for him in the tournament, after entering the World Cup suffering from an ankle injury sustained during the Champions League semi-final, before recovering and regaining his form at the right time.

The Atletico Madrid striker affirmed that he always seeks to help the national team, whether by scoring or pressing opponents, to continue proving his value as one of the important elements in coach Lionel Scaloni's squad.

Thanks to Alvarez's goal and then Lautaro Martinez's goal, Argentina secured its place in the World Cup semi-finals, continuing its dream of winning the fourth title in its history.
