Press reports have revealed new developments regarding the future of Atlético Madrid star Julián Álvarez, amid his desire to depart for Barcelona in the current summer transfer window.
Barcelona submitted an offer to sign Álvarez that summer in June, an action that was met with ridicule and disapproval from Atlético Madrid.
Despite Atlético Madrid’s stance, Julián Álvarez spoke publicly while with the Argentina national team at the World Cup and stated his desire to leave the club without naming Barcelona.
Spanish newspaper “Sport,” citing journalist Ashraf Ben Ayad, reported that sources close to Álvarez are advising him to apologize to Atlético Madrid before returning to training.

The report explained that the reason is to ease tensions and foster better relations with teammates, the coaching staff, and fans should he remain at Atlético Madrid next season.
It added that despite the situation, Álvarez remains determined to wear the Barcelona shirt, believing there is still a chance to complete the deal and is prepared to take further steps to force the club to let him leave.
Álvarez believes Atlético Madrid broke its promise to him to consider his departure if a lucrative offer arrived, and their rejection of Barcelona’s bid constitutes a breach of that commitment.
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s management feels the decision now rests with Álvarez, as the club hopes he will take the decisive step to complete his move to Camp Nou.
