Ali Mahmoud, Al Ahly midfielder, revealed the behind-the-scenes details of his joining the team, explaining the role played by Essam Sarag El-Din, the former club president, and Ayman El-Sharia, Enppi president, in completing his transfer to the Red Castle.
Ali Mahmoud spoke about the behind-the-scenes of his transfer to Al Ahly during statements via the club's official account, saying: "I received a promise from the Enppi president, and I did not focus on any negotiations, and all I was thinking about was being ready to participate with Al Ahly at any time".
He added: "Essam Sarag had great flexibility in dealing with Ayman El-Sharia, and played a major role in my presence at Al Ahly. Any player who strives and does what is required of him, and success in the end is from God".
He continued: "Dr. Essam spoke to me, and I could not believe that I had an opportunity to return to the club, and when he spoke to the club, I was extremely happy, as I also spoke with club president Ayman El-Sharia and received a promise from him that I would be part of Al Ahly, and this helped me a lot".
Al Ahly player continued: "I never believed that I would return until I wore the Al Ahly shirt, it was an unbelievable moment, and I did not feel great happiness as much as I felt disbelief that this had actually happened".
Regarding his focus on the pitch, Ali Mahmoud said: "On the pitch, I do not hear anything except paying attention to the coach's instructions and carrying out my own task, I do not care about social media or media talk, because that may distract the player's mind, and in the end the pitch is what will decide".
He concluded: "Anything outside of football does not help players focus, my goal is to be with the Egypt national team and assist the technical staff, and my goal is also to win any tournament we participate in with Al Ahly, these are the club's ambitions, and this is what the fans deserve, especially after last year when the team did not appear in the required manner".
