Ayman El-Shiray, the president of Sharqia ENPPI Football Club, criticized the decision to suspend the team's coach, Mohamed Barakat.
The League of Clubs had decided to suspend Barakat for four matches following his red card against Al Ahly.
El-Shiray told FilGoal.com: "Referee Mahmoud Naji says that the coach told him, 'You don't understand the law.' He then described the incident in the disciplinary notice as disgraceful conduct and in the report as violent conduct, while the League's decision describes it as using abusive language towards the referee."
He continued, "So, is the phrase 'You don't understand the law' considered disgraceful conduct, violent conduct, or abusive language? Therefore, I say that we do not need a legal analyst, but we need an Arabic language coach to understand."
Al Ahly defeated ENPPI 3-2 in their opening match of the Egyptian Premier League.
Barakat was sent off in stoppage time, and Mahmoud Naji wrote in his report that the red card was due to disgraceful conduct.
El-Shiray had previously spoken on On Sport radio, saying: "I have a bigger problem than the penalty awarded to Al Ahly, which is the red card for technical director Mohamed Barakat based on a strange report from the match referee. During a conversation with Mahmoud Naji regarding an incident in stoppage time, Barakat told the assistant referee, 'You do not understand the law.'"
He added, "There are 10 amendments in the new refereeing law, and there are always controversial cases with the introduction of any new law. What happened in the match against Al Ahly was that Mohamed Essam fell on the pitch, and Mahmoud Naji requested that he be taken off and not return until the first stoppage, while Mohamed Barakat said that the fourth official said it would be after one minute."
El-Shiray clarified, "This rule is applied when the referee feels the player is wasting time. This happened after we conceded the third goal, meaning we were looking to equalize, so how could our player be wasting time?"
Ayman El-Shiray concluded his statements, "My problem with Mahmoud Naji's report is that he described Mohamed Barakat's red card, due to him saying 'You do not understand the law,' as disgraceful conduct, which could cost us a four-match suspension."
Al Ahly secured their second consecutive win against ENPPI after five consecutive matches without a victory against their rival in all competitions.
Al Ahly technical director Hossin Ammouta's first match saw a comeback after trailing by two goals and a return to the top of the table.
Al Ahly are preparing for their match against Zed next Friday in the second round of the league.
Meanwhile, ENPPI will host Wadi Degla on the same day.
