Al-Rayyan Club qualified for the final of the 2026 Qatar Cup after defeating Al-Shamal in a penalty shootout in their semi-final match held tonight, Tuesday.
The match, played at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, was of good quality, with both teams sharing control of play, though Al-Shamal held a slight advantage.
The match saw Mohamed Ali bin Ramadan, Al-Shamal's new signing from Al-Ahli, start in the lineup, playing a prominent role in the outcome of the encounter.
Al-Rayyan took the lead in the 25th minute through Roger Guedes, before Al-Shamal equalized in the 27th minute via their star player, Wesley Said.
Mohamed Ali bin Ramadan scored Al-Shamal's second goal in the 55th minute, assisted by Wesley, who then returned to score his second goal and his team's third in the 63rd minute.
From a penalty kick, Roger Guedes reduced the deficit for Al-Rayyan in the 75th minute, and the team managed to equalize in the 97th minute through Julian De Sart.
Both teams then resorted to a penalty shootout, where Al-Shamal's Fahad Waad missed first, followed by Al-Rayyan's Gregory, while Mohamed Ali bin Ramadan missed the final kick for his team.
With this result, Al-Rayyan Club advances to the final of the 2026 Qatar Cup, where they will face Al-Sadd, who defeated Al-Gharafa today, Tuesday, by two goals to one.
