Saudi club Al-Shabab is close to finalizing its last foreign transfer by strengthening its goalkeeper position in the current summer transfer window, as Senegalese goalkeeper Mory Diaw, who plays for Le Havre, is reportedly close to signing with the Riyadh-based club.
Santi Aouna, a specialist in transfer market news, reported in the early hours of Monday that Al-Shabab had reached an agreement with Le Havre regarding goalkeeper Mory Diaw to bolster the goalkeeper position.
Al-Shabab's move comes amid the technical management, led by German coach Thomas Letsch, desire to strengthen the goalkeeper position after signing multiple foreign players across various lines, including defense, midfield, and attack.
Al-Shabab had recently completed its last foreign transfer by signing veteran Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey to strengthen the midfield, as the team has suffered from a gap in this position since the start of the season.
The signing of Thomas Partey followed Al-Shabab's decision to release two foreign players: Brazilian striker Carlos Junior and Swiss midfielder Vincent Sierro.
The team had eight foreign players on its roster, in addition to two players in the homegrown category, which led the management to terminate the contracts of the two players to allow for the signing of Partey first, and then a goalkeeper.
The signing of Partey and the near-completion of the deal for goalkeeper Mory Diaw will make it difficult to finalize the transfer of international defender Yasser Ibrahim, a player for Al-Ahly, who was a candidate to move to the Riyadh-based club this summer.
