Nawaf Al-Aqidi, the goalkeeper of Saudi Al-Nassr, rejected his club's management offer to renew his contract, preferring to leave during the current summer transfer window or wait until he enters free agency next January.
According to Al-Riyadiya newspaper, Al-Nassr management opened negotiations with Al-Aqidi in recent days to extend his contract, which expires in summer 2027, but the player informed club officials of his unwillingness to renew and preference to depart.
The management began coordinating with Mishal Al-Safai, the goalkeeper's agent, to review offers submitted to him and discuss interested clubs, to avoid him leaving without compensation upon entering free agency next January.
Al-Nassr received more than one official offer to sign Al-Aqidi this summer, foremost among them Al-Fateh's proposal involving his transfer in exchange for right-back Saeed Ba'atiyah joining the club.
Additionally, the club received another offer from Al-Shabab that included a swap deal involving Hammam Al-Hammami.
However, Al-Nassr management did not respond to either offer, deeming the financial and sporting terms unsuitable for the international goalkeeper's value.
Al-Nassr management informed the goalkeeper that the renewal offer remains available, including a higher annual salary than his current contract should he reconsider.
The goalkeeper featured regularly for the team in the first half of last season but lost his starting spot when Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus opted for Brazilian Bento Matheus.
Al-Aqidi defended Al-Nassr's colors in 53 official matches across all competitions, conceding 55 goals while keeping 17 clean sheets, according to Transfermarkt.
