Al-Masry Port Said defeated their guest, Smouha, by one goal to nil in the match that brought the two teams together on the evening of today, Saturday, as part of the first round fixtures of the Egyptian Premier League.
The events of today's match, held at the New Suez Stadium, were of good quality, featuring mutual control over the course of play between the two teams, with a slight advantage for Al-Masry.
Al-Masry Port Said's attempts on Smouha's goal throughout the first half did not succeed, with the half ending in a goalless draw. This prompted Emad El-Nahas to make offensive substitutions at halftime, including bringing on star player Abdel Rahim Dagmoum.
Al-Masry managed to score the winning goal in the 77th minute following a precise cross met by Salah Mohsen with a header that hit the crossbar, then bounced off a Smouha player's head before finding the back of the net.
Ahmed Mehoub, Smouha's goalkeeper, approached Mostafa Makhlouf, an Al-Masry midfielder, and pushed him, sparking minor altercations between the two teams before play resumed.
After the match ended, new clashes erupted between players from both teams, but members from both clubs intervened to calm the situation, led by Emad El-Nahas, who engaged in a brief discussion with Ahmed Mehoub.
In the second round of the Egyptian Premier League, Smouha will host Petrojet Assiut, while Al-Masry Port Said will be the guest of El Mokawloon El Arab in the same round.
