External press reports revealed that Saudi Al-Ittihad Club intends to conclude two deals to strengthen the midfield during the next few days.
Marwan Attia and Imam Ashour, the Al-Ahly duo, are linked with a move to Al-Ittihad Saudi ranks during the current summer transfer window, according to various Saudi press reports.
Saudi newspaper Al-Jazeera stated that Al-Ittihad Club’s treasury has received financial support in recent hours to conclude several deals and bolster the squad in needed positions.
The report clarified that the defensive and attacking midfield positions—“pivot 6 and 8”—are at the forefront of the areas Al-Ittihad seeks to strengthen, representing a top priority for the technical staff.
The report indicated that Al-Ittihad management aims to finalize contracts with players in the pivot position over the coming days to prepare them for the match against Emirati side Al-Jazira on August 11 in the AFC Champions League Elite playoff.
It added: “Al-Ittihad management is also working to strengthen the squad with several local players, especially after Hamed Al-Ghamdi suffered a cruciate ligament tear in the knee.”
Additionally, Al-Jazeera confirmed an Al-Ittihad desire to sign a foreign striker as an alternative to Moroccan Youssef Al-Nusairi, whose future depends on receiving an offer that meets the club’s expectations and reaching an agreement on his financial dues; the club is also considering releasing Albanian full-back Mario Mitaj amid interest from Italian side Genoa.
Al-Ittihad had defeated Spanish side Las Palmas 2-1 in a friendly last Saturday during their current training camp in Spain, ahead of facing Malaga next Thursday.
