Saudi club Al-Ittihad is close to signing Senegalese midfielder Dion Lopy, the star of Spanish Almería, on a four-year contract, after negotiations between the two clubs reached advanced stages during the current summer transfer window.

Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya reported, citing its own sources, that Al-Ittihad has become close to concluding the deal for 19 million euros, in addition to a clause granting Almería 10% of the value of any future sale of the player, pending the final agreement between the two parties.

The newspaper added that Lopy, 24, recently renewed his contract with Almería until the summer of 2030, but the Spanish club's management entered into negotiations with Al-Ittihad to complete his transfer to the ranks of "the Brigadier."

The Senegalese player's market value stands at 15 million euros, according to Transfermarkt, after he delivered standout performances since joining Almería from French club Stade de Reims in the summer of 2023.

Dion Lopy has played 105 matches for Almería, scoring 4 goals and providing 6 assists, having begun his journey with the team in La Liga before continuing his career over the past two seasons in the Spanish Segunda División.
