A source inside Al-Ahly Club revealed the club's position regarding participation in the Egypt Cup and Egyptian Super Cup tournaments supervised by the Egyptian Football Association, following the current crisis between the two parties.
Al-Ahly Club had issued a fiery statement attacking the Football Association over its decisions to appoint Essam Abdel Fattah as head of the Referees Committee despite previous crises between the club and Essam Abdel Fattah, in addition to statements by the duo Jihad Grisha and Mahmoud Ashour that Al-Ahly Club deserved a penalty kick in the Egyptian League during the Ceramica Cleopatra match and that there was interference from Ahmed Mujahid in managing the affairs of the Referees Committee.
The Egyptian Football Association supervises the Egypt Cup and Egyptian Super Cup tournaments, while the Egyptian League competition is under the management of the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association.

Rumors circulated that Al-Ahly Club decided not to participate in the Egypt Cup and Egyptian Super Cup tournaments in the new 2026-2027 season in protest against the decisions of the Egyptian Football Association.
A source in Al-Ahly Club told Botolaat: "Al-Ahly will participate in the Egypt Cup and Egyptian Super Cup, and what is being circulated about non-participation is incorrect."

Al-Ahly Club is preparing to play two friendly matches in one day against Petrol Asyut and Delphi on Wednesday, August 5, before the anticipated match against Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Cup tournament on Wednesday, August 19.
It is noted that Al-Ahly Club played two friendly matches against Al-Nasr Al-Qahiri and Laviina and won them, the first 5-1 and the second 7-1.
