Al Ahly is seeking to clinch the bronze medal in the Handball Club World Cup, as they clash with their traditional rivals Zamalek at Al-Nadi Hall in the New Administrative Capital on Thursday evening.
The Red Team hopes to secure the bronze medal for the second time in its history in the Handball Club World Cup, during its seventh participation in the tournament.
Al Ahly participated in the Handball Club World Cup for the first time in 2007 in Egypt, achieving its best result by winning the silver medal after finishing as runners-up behind Spain's Real Sociedad, following a one-goal defeat.
Al Ahly subsequently took part in the 2015, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 editions, finishing fourth twice, fifth twice, and third once.
Al Ahly achieved a historic feat, being the only African team to have defeated European clubs in the Club World Cup on three separate occasions.
Al Ahly began its streak of overcoming European opponents in 2022 against Portugal's Benfica, then secured a historic victory over Spain's Barcelona in the 2024 edition, before returning to conquer the giants via Fox Berlin, defeating them in the group stage of the current edition.
