Roger Schmidt, the former technical director of Portuguese Benfica, followed the path of Jürgen Klopp, the new technical director of the German national team.
It was officially decided to appoint Roger Schmidt to the position of Global Football President at Red Bull, succeeding Jürgen Klopp, who left the position to move to coaching his country's national team.
The company announced, according to what Sky Sports reported, that the veteran coach will assume his position as Global Football President, effective from the first of next October, as he signed a long-term contract.
The company confirmed that Schmidt will work alongside Florian Schulz, Global Commercial Football Director, to continue developing Red Bull's sporting and commercial future in the field of football.
For his part, the German coach said: "I am eagerly looking forward to this new challenge, and I am proud to rejoin this company, whose portfolio of clubs is distinguished by its uniqueness and ambition."
Roger Schmidt concluded his statements by saying: "These clubs are characterized by a clear philosophy focused on developing young talents while achieving success at the highest levels, and this combination in particular is what makes this position extremely attractive to me."
Many global clubs fall under the Red Bull group, most notably German Leipzig, French Paris FC, English Leeds United, Brazilian Bragantino, and American New York.
It is worth noting that Roger Schmidt, who is 59 years old and has previously coached Bayer Leverkusen, PSV Eindhoven, and Salzburg, has been linked with coaching Al Ahly on more than one previous occasion.
