Yasser Labib, the head of Al Ahly's handball department, spoke about the team winning the bronze medal against Zamalek, emphasizing that the achievement was the result of good preparation and teamwork within the system.
Al Ahly won the bronze medal at the Handball Club World Cup after defeating Zamalek 30-25.
Labib said via Modern channel: "We achieved a great accomplishment, especially after beating Fuchs Berlin. We are always accustomed to achieving excellent results against big clubs due to good preparation for tournaments."
He continued, "Many prominent names left us last season, and everyone expected the team to collapse after their departure. However, we supported the team well and managed to compete and return to prominence."
He added, "We have an integrated system. Without management support, we would not have reached these titles. But collective work, along with financial and administrative stability, a high-level technical staff, and players who know their role in the system well, leads you to the path of championships."
He revealed, "The draw placed us in a difficult group, but we have faced Barcelona before and won against them in the World Championship. We also secured various victories against big clubs like Dinamo Zagreb and Montpellier."
Regarding the win over Zamalek, he said: "Whether facing Zamalek or any other team, our goal is one: to win the bronze medal. However, this specific match is important because Al Ahly will face Zamalek again in Africa. The psychological and mental factor is crucial, especially since they have a new group of players and a new coach delivering strong performance."
He concluded, "Zamalek lacks this group dynamic and collective aspect. Al Ahly is a system, and stability in Al Ahly is a key element in the team's success."
Al Ahly defeated its rival Zamalek in the match for third and fourth place in the IHF Super Globe (Handball Club World Cup).
Egypt is hosting the Handball Club World Cup.
For the first time, Al Ahly and Zamalek faced each other in the Handball Club World Cup.
This is the second time Al Ahly has won the bronze medal at the Club World Cup since 2024, when they beat Barcelona. At that time, Al Ahly became the first non-European team to defeat Barcelona in the tournament.
This match marked the fourth time both teams played for the bronze medal at the Club World Cup.
This is Al Ahly's fourth match competing for the bronze medal in the past five years.
