In the 23rd minute, referee Mahmoud Naji awarded a penalty kick to Al Sharqiya ENPPI, but Mohamed Hamdy missed it, failing to convert it into a goal.
Al Sharqiya ENPPI did not delay in compensating for the missed penalty, as Mohamed Essam Sakr managed to score the second goal just two minutes later, doubling his team's lead and putting Al Ahly in an early predicament on home ground in front of their fans.
