Al-Ahly Club denied any intention to appoint a sporting director in an official statement.
The official statement read as follows:
There is no proposal of any kind regarding the appointment of a sporting director, and all rumors circulating on this matter are completely false. Credibility necessitates an apology from everyone who reported this fabricated news.
Al-Ahly had previously abolished the position of sporting director (see details).
Currently, the duo Yassin Mansour, the club's vice president, and Sayed Abdel Hafez, a board member, oversee football affairs at the club.
Al-Ahly is scheduled to face their rival Petrol Assiut in the opening match of the Egypt Capital Cup group stage on October 8.
They will then play the Cairo Derby against Zamalek following the end of the international break.
Al-Ahly currently occupies third place in the Egyptian Premier League standings with 13 points, trailing runners-up Zamalek on goal difference.
