Al-Ahli Jeddah Saudi club is weighing a number of strong coaching options during the ongoing summer transfer window to replace German Matthias Jaissle.
Matthias Jaissle has finalized all agreement details with English Newcastle United to lead the first team as successor to English coach Eddie Howe in the coming period.
Al-Ahli weighs a global duo to succeed Jaissle
According to renowned journalist Gianluigi Longari, the dramatic change regarding Matthias Jaissle's fate at Al-Ahli Jeddah has opened the door to searching for a new coach.
Longari added via his "X" account that several options are on the table for the Saudi club, but no decisive decision has been made yet.
In addition to Dutchman Arne Slot, Spanish coach Xavi Hernandez is also among the candidates to succeed Jaissle in the 2026/2027 season.
It is worth noting that Al-Ahli management had renewed Jaissle's contract in August 2025 for two seasons with an option to extend for one additional season after he joined in summer 2023.
In a related context, Jaissle apologized in mid-July for not accepting the club's company management offer to renew the contract until the end of the 2029 season.
The management insisted that compensation in case of contract termination before its end be limited to six months' salaries only, to avoid bearing the full financial value of the new contract exceeding 150 million riyals, which Jaissle rejected.
Matthias Jaissle (38 years old) has managed Al-Ahli in 138 matches, achieving 92 wins, 21 draws and 25 losses, and won with them two AFC Champions League Elite titles and the Saudi Super Cup.
