Ahmed Suleiman, a member of Zamalek Club's board of directors, revealed the behind-the-scenes details of the football company project's stumbling, explaining that this file falls primarily within the competencies of the board of directors.
Ahmed Suleiman said on the "MBC Egypt" channel: "We decided to establish the football company as soon as we assumed responsibility at Zamalek, and we began activating it on the day of the board meeting from which I withdrew in objection to some matters."
He added: "I raised some objections to the mechanism of establishing the football company, with the board members and for the club's interest first, and I do not know of any connection John Edward has to it."
He continued: "Hossam El-Mandouh was the only board member who objected to the company's shares, while I objected to the clause announcing its establishment via digital platforms."
He went on: "My objection increased after I was surprised that what is published on social media is the same as what is recorded in the minutes of the board of directors meeting."
He continued: "Regarding the legal status, Suleiman indicated that 'the football company already exists, but Egyptian law specified a 49% share for investors while the remaining percentage goes to the clubs'."
He noted that: "The law put a single exception regarding amending the specified percentage between the club and the investor, through the convening of the club's general assembly based on a proposal from the competent administrative authority."
Ahmed Suleiman concluded: "It has never happened in the history of Egyptian football that a major club with popularity and fans exceeding 119 years like Zamalek is valued at less than the deserved percentage."
