Refereeing expert Ahmed El-Shennawy revealed an analysis of certain refereeing incidents in the match between Zamalek and Ghazl El-Mahalla within the framework of the Egyptian Premier League matches.
Zamalek had secured a 1-0 victory over Ghazl El-Mahalla in the match that brought both teams together, as part of the fifth round fixtures of the Egyptian Premier League.

El-Shennawi stated in comments to "On Sport" channel: "The penalty kick awarded to Ghazl El-Mahalla was due to a handball by El-Wansh; however, the ball did not hit El-Wansh's hand but rather struck his shorts, not his hand, and therefore there should be no penalty kick in favor of Ghazl El-Mahalla."
He added: "The validity of Zamalek's penalty kick is clear; the White Knights' player reached the ball first and played it with his head, after which the Ghazl El-Mahalla player kicked his face and head. Since the Zamalek player reached and played the ball first, any contact afterward constitutes a foul, making the decision to award a penalty kick to Zamalek 100% correct, and the VAR official upheld the referee's decision."
El-Shennawi concluded his remarks: "The situation regarding Zamalek's penalty kick was extremely difficult, but the referee's final decision was correct."
