Spanish Xabi Alonso, Chelsea's technical director, confirmed his welcome for the return of Ukrainian Mykhailo Mudryk to the team's ranks, after the end of his suspension crisis due to the doping case.
Mudryk's penalty had been reduced this week, following the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings between the English Football Association and the World Anti-Doping Agency, after the appeal submitted by the player, allowing him to return to the pitches.
Alonso's statements
Alonso said, in statements reported by the English newspaper The Sun: "We are happy for him, especially since he went through a difficult period that many cannot imagine, and what he had to deal with during this crisis".
He added: "We want him to feel that he is part of the team, because he trained alone for a long time, and he will receive support from everyone inside the club, whether from the players or the technical staff or the management, but the matter will need some time".
He concluded: "He will join us in Hong Kong, and after that we will see how things will go, but I have not spoken to him yet".
Mudryk's suspension
Mudryk had been suspended after it was proven that there was a low concentration of the banned substance meldonium in a sample dating back to 2024, while the player maintained throughout the case that he did not intentionally take the banned substance.
