After Real Madrid documents... Barcelona: No new investigation from UEFA

Via FilGoal

FC Barcelona issued an official statement to comment on UEFA's announcement of receiving new documents from Real Madrid regarding the Negreira case.

UEFA announced this Thursday evening that it had received documents from Real Madrid incriminating FC Barcelona in the Negreira case (see details).

In its official statement, FC Barcelona said: "The Club clarifies that UEFA has not opened any new investigation against Barcelona, as the investigation began in 2023 with the appointment of two investigators, who have since carried out the procedures they deemed appropriate, while the Club has always responded to all their requests."

It continued, "UEFA's statement confirms the receipt of the documents sent by Real Madrid, and that the investigators will assess them within the framework of the ongoing investigation. The text also explicitly states on two occasions that the investigation and review are still underway."

It added, "Therefore, the statement does not announce the opening, reopening, or reactivation of any investigation, nor does it include any position regarding the content or value of the submitted documents."

It revealed, "To date, the investigators have not made any new request to Barcelona, nor have they notified the Club of the complaint filed by Real Madrid."

It further stated, "When this happens, Barcelona will respond in due time, as it has done until now."

It concluded, "Since the beginning of the investigation, Barcelona has continued to obtain its UEFA license without any objection and to participate in its competitions."

Real Madrid had announced last June that it had submitted documents to UEFA regarding the case, while confirming that the documents include evidence related to payments received by Negreira from Barcelona.

Spanish judicial authorities previously formally accused FC Barcelona as a legal entity, its former presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell, and former referee official José María Enríquez Negreira.

This comes in light of transfers made from Barcelona to a company owned by Negreira.
