The Egyptian Football Association announced the appointment of Mohamed Abd El-Monsef as the goalkeeping coach for Egypt's U-17 national team (players born in 2007).
Wael Ryad is currently serving as the head coach of Egypt's youth national team.
The youth team is preparing to compete in the North African qualifiers for the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
The qualifiers will be held in Egypt, in the city of Ismailia, from September 21 to October 6.
Abd El-Monsef takes over the role following the departure of Ibrahim Abd El-Gawad some time ago; Essam El-Hadary temporarily assumed responsibility for the goalkeeping file across national teams until Abd El-Monsef's arrival.
Since retiring from football in 2022, Mohamed Abd El-Monsef has served as a goalkeeping coach for Zamalek, Ismaily, Ghazl El-Mehalla, and most recently, National Bank of Egypt.
Abd El-Monsef boasts a long career in Egyptian football, holding the record for the most consecutive seasons played by a goalkeeper, totaling 26 seasons.
He also ranks second on the list of players with the most appearances in the Egyptian Premier League, behind current Zamalek player Abdullah El-Said.
Egypt's national team will open its campaign by facing Libya in the first round on September 24.
The team will then sit out the second round.
They will play against Tunisia and Morocco in the third and fourth rounds on September 30 and October 3, respectively.
The qualifiers will conclude with a match against Algeria on October 6.
