Saudi club Al-Ahli Jeddah announced the dismissal of Portuguese sporting director Rui Pedro.

The Saudi club stated in an official statement: "Al-Ahli and Rui Pedro have mutually agreed to terminate his role as the club's sporting director."

Al-Ahli's statement added: "The club extends its thanks to Rui for his work during his tenure with Al-Ahli, wishing him success in the future."

Al-Ahli revealed the appointment of Osama Hawsawi, assistant sporting director, as the acting sporting director.

The club praised Hawsawi "for his contributions to developing the club's academy and youth categories."

According to the sports newspaper Al-Riyadhiah, Rui Pedro's departure came after Al-Ahli Jeddah's losses to Al-Kholood and Al-Hilal in the second and third rounds of the league.

Al-Ahli currently sits in eighth place in the Saudi league table after four rounds, with six points from two wins and two losses.

Rui Pedro took on the role of sporting director at Al-Ahli Jeddah in October 2025, only to be dismissed before completing his first year with the club.

Rui Pedro was the sporting director of Portuguese club Benfica before moving to Saudi Al-Ahli.

Al-Ahli won the AFC Champions League title in the last two editions.

Marin Bozic is currently in charge of Al-Ahli Jeddah's first team, succeeding Matthias Jaissle.
