Press reports revealed the arrival date of German coach Matthias Jaissle to lead the English Newcastle United team, succeeding his predecessor, Eddie Howe, who officially departed.
Newcastle United club announced today, Friday, that Eddie Howe has informed the club of his decision to leave his position as technical director of the team, before the start of the new 2026/2027 season.
In a related context, Newcastle welcomed Eddie Howe's decision, expressing its thanks and gratitude to him for his exceptional contributions to the black and white club over the past years.
Date of Jaissle assuming Newcastle coaching
According to what was mentioned by the "Sky Sports" channel correspondent, Newcastle club is scheduled to announce tomorrow the appointment of Matthias Jaissle as the new coach succeeding Eddie Howe, with a contract extending for four years.
The correspondent added during his statements: "The English club agreed to pay compensation amounting to 9.5 million pounds sterling (11 million euros) to the Saudi Al-Ahli club in exchange for Jaissle".
Matthias Jaissle has settled all the details of the agreement with the English Newcastle United, in order to lead the first team succeeding the English coach Eddie Howe, during the coming period.
Matthias Jaissle (38 years old) supervised the training of Al-Ahli during 138 matches, achieving 92 wins, 21 draws, and 25 losses, and won with it the AFC Champions League Elite title twice and the Saudi Super Cup.
Howe had taken over the coaching of Newcastle in November 2021, leading the team to escape relegation, before leading it to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, then winning the English League Cup in 2025, which is the club's first major local title since 1955.
However, the results of the past season were disappointing, after Newcastle finished the English Premier League in twelfth place, and exited the UEFA Champions League from the round of 16, which increased the pressure on the coach, before he decided to leave in the coming days.
