Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo begins a new journey with English club Liverpool, after long years spent in the ranks of Spanish side Barcelona, in search of regular starting appearances in the period ahead.
Liverpool reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign Ronald Araujo on a one-season loan, during which the Uruguayan player will wear the number 33 shirt.

Ronald Araujo wore the Barcelona shirt in 213 matches across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing 7 assists.
With Barcelona’s youth teams, Araujo featured in 44 matches, scoring 6 goals and providing 3 assists.
Araujo won 3 Spanish league titles with Barcelona since joining the club in 2018, and also had the honor of wearing the Blaugrana captain’s armband.
Araujo’s comments
Araujo began his remarks by saying: “I am very excited to start this journey, I am really happy and thrilled to be here at this historic club with its long legacy. I look forward to meeting my new teammates and can’t wait to start playing. I’m fully motivated and ready to go.”
The Liverpool player added: “I believe this was the ideal move for me at this stage of my career. It was a necessary step. Once I learned of Liverpool’s interest, things moved very quickly.”
He concluded: “As I said, I’m delighted to be here and excited to begin this new chapter. I’m grateful for this interest, and it was the right step at the right time.”
