Saudi press reports revealed, this Saturday evening, the existence of a direction within the decision-makers at Neom Saudi Club to utilize the expertise of the Egyptian Ahmed Hegazi, to assume an administrative position within the club that participates in the Saudi Roshn League.
Hegazi had announced, just a few hours ago, his official retirement, after a rich career in the stadiums, whether at the local, European, or Arab level.
Hegazi began his professional career with Ismaily, before embarking on another local experience with Al Ahly, then he went through various European stations, the most prominent of which were with West Bromwich Albion and Fiorentina, before heading to the Saudi League and moving to the ranks of Al Ittihad, and finally to Neom.
The Egyptian international contributed to Neom team's promotion to the Saudi Roshn League in the past season, leading the team to be among the big clubs in the new season.
The Saudi newspaper "Asharq Al-Awsat" reported that the Neom administration is moving to benefit from Ahmed Hegazi's expertise outside the green rectangle, by granting him a position within the club's administrative staff in the coming days.
This step comes to reflect the administration's confidence in Hegazi's leadership abilities and his accumulated experience in football, as the administration seeks to attract the most prominent technical and administrative competencies to maintain building a professional system.
Hegazi had previously achieved success with the Saudi Al Ittihad team, when he led it to win the Saudi Roshn League title and the Saudi Super Cup, before moving afterwards to Neom in a free transfer deal in the summer of 2024.
