Mohamed Basyouni announced his official retirement from football, ending a career that lasted more than 15 years on the pitches, through an emotional message he posted on his personal account.
Basyouni wrote on his official Facebook account: "Every beginning has an end, and today I am writing the last line in my journey as a football player, from 2010, I started the dream with a heart full of passion, I didn't know that football would take me on an enjoyable journey with all its details".
The player thanked all the clubs he defended their colors, topped by Al-Masry Al-Portsaidi, stressing that its fans had a great credit in his career after God, and also thanked Al-Merreikh, Ittihad Al-Shorta, Enppi, and Al-Bank Al-Ahly, praising what those clubs offered him during his career.
Basyouni also sent a message of appreciation to all the coaches who gave him confidence, his teammates on the pitches, and the fans who supported or criticized him, stressing that everyone had a role in his development as a player.
He concluded his message by saying: "I am leaving the pitch, but the love of football will remain in my heart, thank you for every moment, thank you to all the fans, this is not the end of the road, this is the beginning of a new stage, God willing".
Basyouni played 316 matches with the clubs he participated in, scoring 17 goals and assisting 24 others.
