Real Betis club has entered the race to sign Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi, Girona midfielder, amid increasing interest in the player's services during the current summer transfer window.
According to previous reports, Barcelona is monitoring Ounahi's situation, especially after the injury suffered by Frenkie de Jong which may keep him out of action for a long period, prompting the Catalan club to study options to strengthen the midfield.
In contrast, Real Betis emerges as one of the most prominent parties interested in signing the Moroccan player, according to what was revealed by the Spanish newspaper "Sport".
Previous Spanish reports had pointed to Betis's interest in the 26-year-old Ounahi, especially given the Andalusian team's need to reorganize its midfield during the current transfer market.
The competition to sign Ounahi comes after a standout season with Girona, which signed him from Olympique Marseille in the summer of 2025 for around 6 million euros, on a contract running until 2030.
The player delivered good performances with the team, and his recent international appearances with the Moroccan national team have further boosted his value in the transfer market.
It is worth noting that the release clause in Ounahi's contract stands at 25 million euros, with expectations that a lower amount could be negotiated, especially after Girona's relegation to the second division.
