It seems that the future of the Argentine Julián Álvarez with Atlético Madrid is approaching a decisive point, amid the tension that has arisen between the player and the club's fans after his recent statements during the World Cup competitions, which angered a large sector of the Spanish team's supporters.
According to what was reported by the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", Atlético Madrid has set only two paths for Álvarez during the current transfer period, in a clear message to the player regarding his future with the team.
The first path is for Álvarez to continue with Atlético Madrid and fulfill his contract, which extends until 2030, with a huge penalty clause amounting to 490 million euros. In this case, the Argentine striker will be required to work on regaining the trust of the club's fans, who currently feel frustrated and betrayed by him, due to his statements in which he expressed his desire to leave.
As for the second path, it is to accept one of the offers coming from outside Spain, specifically from England or France, where Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are among the most prominent clubs capable of bearing the cost of signing the player.
In return, according to the newspaper, Atlético Madrid completely closes the door to Álvarez's transfer to Barcelona, as the club does not want to sell its Argentine striker to the Catalan team under any circumstances, even if the Catalan club raises its financial offer.
According to the report, Barcelona does not seem ready to exceed the 100 million euros barrier, while Atlético confirms that Álvarez is not for sale for 100 million euros or even 200 million euros.
If the former Manchester City player is forced to leave Atlético, he must accept the idea of moving outside Spain, which was not part of his plans in the first place.
It seems that Atlético Madrid is betting on the experience of the Frenchman Antoine Griezmann, who left the club for Barcelona before returning later, and is working quietly to regain the fans' love until he became one of the team's most prominent legends.
The message directed to Álvarez indicates that he has a last chance to repair the relationship with Atlético's fans, by staying and fighting on the pitch, or leaving outside Spain, while it seems that the Barcelona option has completely gone out of the calculations of the Madrid club.
