Foreign media reports have revealed that Russian club Rubin Kazan is targeting Asad Hamalawi, a player for Romania's Universitatea Craiova, during the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Romanian newspaper Digi Sport reported that Hamalawi has entered the sights of a Russian club, making him a candidate to leave Universitatea Craiova this summer.
The report indicated that negotiations for Hamalawi's transfer to Egypt's Pyramids FC during this summer have stalled, making Russian side Rubin Kazan his likely next destination.
It clarified that Rubin Kazan has expressed interest in signing the 25-year-old striker, who continues to attract attention from several clubs despite the failure of his transfer to Pyramids FC.
It added that the team, currently ranked tenth in the Russian league, is seeking to sign a new striker to compensate for Merlinda Daku's transfer to Spartak Moscow, and the club has included Hamalawi on its list of targets to strengthen its attacking line.
It continued: "It remains unclear whether the Russian club is prepared to pay the amount requested by Craiova's management to release the Palestinian national team striker, estimated at 5 million euros."
It confirmed that Hamalawi's own stance on the transfer is a decisive factor, especially given that Russian clubs continue to be excluded from European competitions due to imposed sanctions.
The newspaper concluded: "Pyramids FC was not the only club interested in the striker's services this summer; his name has also been linked with several clubs, including Club Brugge, Mainz, AEK Athens, Legia Warsaw, and Egypt's Al-Ahly."
It is worth noting that Asad Hamalawi, aged 25, joined Universitatea Craiova in the summer of 2025, playing 57 matches for the team, scoring 18 goals and providing 5 assists.
