The management of Libya's Al-Ahly Tripoli club has successfully strengthened the team's squad with powerful signings, making it one of the top contenders for the upcoming edition of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The team, led by Egyptian coach Hossam El-Badry, is aiming to win its first continental title in history after achieving domestic accomplishments, particularly in recent years, having clinched the Libyan League title two seasons ago and the Libyan Cup last season.

Arrivals from Egypt

Al-Ahly Tripoli completed seven strong signings during the current summer transfer window, most notably from the Egyptian Premier League, securing former Pyramids FC striker Fiston Mayele on a free transfer.

Additionally, this summer Al-Ahly signed South African striker Fakhri Lakay from Ceramica Cleopatra, joining Mostafa Shekshek, whose loan buyout clause from ENPPI was activated.

Foreign Signings

In a domestic move, Mohamed Khalil, a player for the Libyan national team, joined Al-Ahly Tripoli, alongside Jean Claude, one of Al-Hilal Sudan's standout stars, who signed his transfer contracts with the team this summer.

From outside Africa, Al-Ahly Tripoli recruited Libyan-Scottish player Omar Harik, arriving from East Fife, which competes in the Scottish Second Division.

To further strengthen Al-Ahly Tripoli's competition for the Confederation Cup title, Hussein Dahiri, a player from Algeria's USM Alger (holders of the last edition), joined the squad after leading his former team to their second-ever title by defeating Zamalek in the final.

Original Stars

This new wave of signings joins several stars already present in the squad, headed by former Pyramids FC player Platini Touré and former Espérance de Tunis star Hamdou El Houni.

Al-Ahly Tripoli had previously signed Ishaku Yakubu from Al-Ahly Bank in a deal valued at over half a million dollars. The squad also includes midfield star Mamadou Lamine Camara, who was among the candidates to join Egypt's Al-Ahly this summer.

A Strong Confederation Cup Edition

The upcoming edition of the CAF Confederation Cup features many Egyptian teams, led by Egypt's Al-Ahly and Tunisia's Sfaxien, both previous champions of the tournament.

Libya's Al-Ahly Tripoli will begin its campaign in the next Confederation Cup edition facing Tanzania's KMC in the first preliminary round, with the winner advancing to face the victor of the two-legged tie between Ethiopia's Welwalo Adigrat University and Sudan's Hilal Al-Sahel.
