6 Super players on Manchester City's table to strengthen the midfield

Reports have revealed that English club Manchester City is targeting the signing of additional midfielders before the summer transfer window closes.

The Sky Blues are looking to strengthen their squad after selling Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders earlier this week to Barcelona and Al-Qadsiah, respectively.

The Etihad Stadium has seen a busy summer of changes, with Italian manager Enzo Maresca replacing Pep Guardiola in charge of the team.

In addition to the sales of Rodri and Reijnders, and the departure of Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Nathan Aké, James Trafford, and Manuel Akanji have also left the club.

City has only completed one major midfield signing this summer, bringing in Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116 million.

6 options to bolster Manchester City's midfield

According to the English newspaper "Talk Sport," Manchester City has identified six potential options to strengthen its midfield, led by Argentine Enzo Fernández, despite Chelsea's opposition.

Chelsea set a deadline of 5:00 PM last Friday for any club wishing to sign the player, who is valued at £120 million.

Enzo Fernández is open to the idea of reuniting with his former Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca. Meanwhile, Manchester City remains ahead in its negotiations with Lille to sign rising star Ayoze Perea.

Personal terms have been agreed upon for the 18-year-old, in a deal that could reach €100 million (£85.7 million) this summer.

The report noted that Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton remains a target for City, after the club inquired about the 22-year-old.

In the same context, Fernández's Argentine national team teammate, Alexis Mac Allister, is highly regarded, although Liverpool has no intention of selling its key playmaker during the current transfer window.

Meanwhile, Manchester City has expressed interest in Bournemouth's Alex Scott and submitted a bid for the player last month, but the Cherries insist that their 22-year-old is not for sale.

Bournemouth rejected a £64 million bid from Chelsea for Scott earlier this summer.

Finally, Roma's Manu Koné is considered one of Manchester City's options following his impressive performance with the French national team at the World Cup.

The 25-year-old was also on Manchester United's target list and has been linked with a move to Arsenal.
