For players, the season concludes on the last day of June, making them available to join any new club starting July 1, even though official competitions end well before that date, with variations depending on different leagues.
The End of Salah's Journey with Liverpool
Mohamed Salah officially announced his departure from Liverpool in a video he previously published on his social media platforms.
Salah reached an agreement with Liverpool to part ways at the end of last June, despite his contract being extended for an additional season; however, both parties appeared satisfied after reaching this settlement.
Mohamed Salah remained under Liverpool's control until the final hours of last night, becoming a free agent able to sign transfer contracts with any new club without requiring the Reds' approval.

Liverpool's Benefit from Salah
Liverpool Club continued receiving financial amounts from FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) for Mohamed Salah's participation with the Egyptian national team in the World Cup until June 30 (the official end date of his contract), as part of the rewards granted to clubs under the "2026 World Cup Club Benefits" program.
Each club receives $5,000 USD per player for each day spent at the World Cup, calculated from the player's first day at their national team camp (May 25) until one day after their national team's elimination from the tournament or until the official end of their season.
FIFA clarified that if a player's contract expires during the World Cup period and they become a free agent, their former club receives compensation from FIFA only until the contract expiration date, i.e., June 30, and not until the end of their journey with their national team.
