Al Ahly secured a thrilling victory last Sunday against Sharqia Enppi, winning 3-2 in the first week of the 2026-2027 Egyptian Premier League season.

Sharqia Enppi took a two-goal lead through Ali Ehab in the 17th minute and Mohamed Essam in the 24th minute. In response, Al Ahly's three goals were scored by Marwan Attia in the 34th minute of the first half.

In the second half, Ahmed Sayed "Zizo" scored the equalizer from a penalty in the 69th minute, followed by Mohamed Magdy "Afsha" in the 90th minute.

- Amouta's Debut and First Official Win

Moroccan coach Hossam Amouta, the technical director of Al Ahly, achieved his first official victory in his first official match after taking over technical duties this summer, replacing the Danish coach Jesper Sorensen.

Al Ahly had played several friendly matches during the pre-season camp, both in Egypt and during their camp in Spain, where the "Red Team" played three friendlies, the most recent being against Barcelona.

Al Ahly won their friendlies held in Egypt against El Nasr El Qahiri, Laviena, and Petroleum Asyut, then beat Badalona, before losing in the friendlies against Europa and Barcelona.

Naturally, this victory will boost the confidence of the Moroccan coach and the team, given the pressure the team will face to compete for titles locally and continentally, following last season's results which led to finishing in third place.

- New Signings Make Their Mark

The new signings began to show their impact with Al Ahly. From the start, the new Algerian arrival, Mansour Boudaoui, featured as a starter on the attacking side, while the contribution came from the other Moroccan striker, Sofiane Ben Jedida, who provided the assist for the winning goal.

New arrival Ali Mahmoud also made an appearance, coming on as a substitute in the second half. Meanwhile, the duo of Akram Tawfik, returning from his professional experience with Qatar's Al-Shamal, and Aqtai Abdullah, who joined from Enppi, were on the bench.

- Zizo Scores

Ahmed Sayed "Zizo" scored from a penalty, marking his 66th goal in the Egyptian Premier League during his career, both while playing for Zamalek and subsequently for Al Ahly.

The 30-year-old is in his second season with Al Ahly after transferring to the "Red Fortress" last summer on a free transfer following the end of his contract with Zamalek.

"Zizo" is now aiming to join the 100-goal club in the Egyptian Premier League, needing 34 more goals to add his name to the list that includes many football legends, starting with the late Hassan El-Shazly.

The list also features Hossam Hassan, Abdullah Saeed, Mostafa Riad, El-Sayed El-Dessouky, Mahmoud El-Khatib, Mohamed Abou Treika, Ahmed El-Kass, and Gamal Abdel Hamid.

- Afsha Returns

Mohamed Magdy "Afsha" came on in the 86th minute of the match, successfully scoring the winning goal just four minutes later to secure all three points for his team.

This goal is number 46 for "Afsha" since he donned the Al Ahly shirt in the summer of 2019 after joining from Pyramids FC at the time.

"Afsha" returned to scoring for Al Ahly after a long absence, as his last goal was on January 7, 2025, when he scored against Smouha in a match that the "Red Team" won 2-0.

"Afsha" had gone out on loan in the second half of last season to Al Ittihad Alexandria, before returning this summer to compensate for the departure of Tunisian international Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, who moved to Qatar's Al-Shamal.
