Media personality Ahmed Shobier revealed the behind-the-scenes details and reasons for the delay in Zamalek's announcement of signing Hossam El-Zanati as the new sporting director of the White Castle.
Shobier said during his radio program: "Yesterday, Hossam El-Zanati was present at Zamalek's friendly match against Eastern Company FC, so naturally people said: Congratulations, Hossam El-Zanati has become the sporting director of the White Castle."
He continued: "I asked at Zamalek club, and they told me: Consider him the sporting director of Zamalek, but this is not official until it is formally announced."
He added: "I asked the source, so why hasn't the official announcement been made yet? The response was that there are still some very minor details that have not been completed, but consider the matter settled and he is the new sporting director of Zamalek."

He went on: "I asked him, should I announce this? He said: If you want to announce it, go ahead, but God knows something might happen at the last moment because we haven't signed the contract yet, although we have agreed on everything, and only some simple matters remain."
He further stated: "I asked the source, I heard that Hossam El-Zanati held a meeting with John Edward, the former sporting director, did this bother you? He said: No, on the contrary, this pleases us greatly, because he needed to know how things run in the club."
He continued: "Then the source told me: Hossam El-Zanati is lucky, because we have paid all outstanding dues, and no player is upset, which is what we were working towards in the past period, and we succeeded."
He concluded: "I asked him, has the club paid all the dues? He told me: All of them are finished, and we are now paying the money that caused the crises we went through in the recent period."
