Riyad Mahrez: Mohamed Salah was the player who helped me the most... and gave me advice before his departure

Young England international Rio Ngumoha, a first-team footballer at Liverpool FC, spoke about the advice revealed to him by star Mohamed Salah, the Reds legend and current Trabzonspor player.

Mohamed Salah officially left Liverpool on June 30 last year, after spending nine historic years with the English club.

Numerous disputes arose between the Egyptian King and Dutchman Arne Slot, Liverpool's former manager, due to the latter's lack of reliance on him and his relegation to the bench.

Mohamed Salah joined Turkish side Trabzonspor on a free transfer with a contract running until 2028.

Rio Ngumoha, a Liverpool player, said in an interview with the "Liverpool Echo" newspaper: "The player I have learned from more than anyone else is, of course, Mohamed Salah when he was at Liverpool."

He continued: "He taught me a lot, especially recently when he knew he would be leaving. He helped me greatly."

He added: "As he always says regarding looking at his numbers, he always told me, 'Rio, you know you are a good player, but in order to reach the top, you must care about goals and assists.'"

He further stated: "He told me that those things would come naturally, but he was going through small things like this with me."

He went on: "When he started talking to me for the first time, I said to myself (Oh my God! I have been watching you since I was young, and now you are telling me how to improve? You are helping me and guiding me)."

He concluded: "But over time, I saw him as a very good teammate who helped me a lot, so I can thank him much more than that."
