A source at Al Ahly club revealed the sports management's plan to handle the reinforcement of the first team's right-back position, given that the renewal with Mohamed Hany has not yet been finalized.
Al Ahly is working on finalizing the renewal files for several of its stars, most notably the duo Yasser Ibrahim and Mohamed Hany, as their current contracts expire at the end of the 2026/2027 season.
Al Ahly's plan to reinforce the right-back position
An Al Ahly source stated in comments via Youla Kora: "Matters with Mohamed Hany are completely suspended, given the firm stance of both the club and the player."
The source added: "Al Ahly's management decided to release Ahmed Eid in the upcoming January transfer window, meaning Al Ahly currently has only Akram Tawfik in this position, which is not his natural role."
He continued: "Al Ahly has made a decision to reinforce this position by signing a local player. A comparison is being made between two names to select one of them: Tarek Alaa from ZED FC, and Mostafa Shakshek from Libya's Al-Ahli Tripoli."
Al Ahly TV reported that, based on the principle of contracts and the figures presented to players, no player will receive a value different from his teammate, and the offers presented to Mohamed Hany will not be improved.
It added: "No additional bonuses, no extra value, not even an extra pound... The player remains until now, and this is the sole offer without any increases. Ultimately, it comes down to a yes or no decision."
Throughout his illustrious career wearing the Al Ahly jersey, Mohamed Hany played 399 matches in all competitions (30,791 minutes), scored 8 goals, provided 32 assists, received 51 yellow cards, and was sent off twice with red cards.
