The Disciplinary Committee of the Turkish Football Federation announced that 13 individuals from Trabzonspor have been referred to the Disciplinary Board on charges related to betting.
Egyptian star Mohamed Salah joined Turkish club Trabzonspor during the past summer transfer window on a contract running until 2028.
According to the "61saat" website, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) released the names of individuals who held administrative positions in clubs competing in the Turkish Super Lig and the First League during the 2026/2027 season over the past five years, and who were found to have placed bets during their tenure, as part of a betting investigation.
As reported by the Turkish newspaper, the list includes 448 people, with 13 from Trabzonspor, 10 from Beşiktaş, 5 from Galatasaray, and 3 from Fenerbahçe referred to the TFF's Disciplinary Committee.
"61saat" stated that Ertuğrul Doğan is included in the list to be investigated starting today, Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

Regarding this matter, Ertuğrul Doğan responded: "I am an open person and everyone knows me. This is my ninth year managing Trabzonspor; these issues were not previously on our agenda."
He continued: "In the past, the Turkish Football Federation would inform referees, coaches, and others about such matters during their meetings, but there was no similar briefing for the administrations. It is a separate issue that the administration needs to know about; perhaps something went wrong here."
He added: "But I confirm that there is no deliberate misunderstanding or any other problem. I will speak about Trabzonspor; we have many friends here, former and current managers, all of whom are respectable people of good character, and I testify to their integrity. We have discussed this matter among ourselves previously."
He emphasized: "I had a closed account long before these events occurred. Betting companies were sponsors of the clubs, and events were held at the Federation's headquarters. Since my colleagues and I had no bad intentions, perhaps no one anticipated such a problem, and the Federation appreciated that. If we made any mistake or overlooked something, we ask for forgiveness; there was no malicious intent."
He further stated: "I know the other managers; they are highly competent people, including presidents and others. None of them had any thoughts or expectations regarding these issues. Is this negligence? Yes, it is. Looking at previous years, there were similar problems; people had already opened accounts."
He concluded: "These matters go back years. Before these events, accounts under my name had been closed. This happened to me, and we will present our defense. There is no problem, and we do not want to believe that they had any malicious intent. We also made mistakes and need to read those procedures more carefully. These officials were invited to the Federation."
