The Referees Committee, chaired by Essam Abdel Fattah, revealed the accuracy of the refereeing decisions in the match between Al-Ahly and Smouha, which took place last Thursday as part of the Egyptian Premier League.
Al-Ahly faced Smouha in the third round of the Egyptian Premier League, with the match ending in a 1-0 victory for Al-Ahly.
The Egyptian Football Association published the Referees Committee's explanation regarding the controversial incidents in the Al-Ahly vs. Smouha match.
First incident: Regarding Amr El-Gazzar's (Al-Ahly defender) challenge on the Smouha striker, did it warrant a red card for the Al-Ahly defender? The Referees Committee's opinion: "The referee's decision was correct; there was no case for a red card as El-Gazzar challenged the ball without committing a foul."

Regarding the incident involving Ashraf Bencharqi and the appeal for a penalty kick for Al-Ahly, the Referees Committee clarified: "The referee's decision not to award a penalty kick was correct, as the contact that occurred was merely natural competition between the defender and the attacker."
It is worth noting that the Al-Ahly vs. Smouha match was officiated by Amin Omar, assisted by Ahmed Tawfik Talab and Khaled Hussein, with Mahmoud El-Desouki and Amr El-Shenawy in the VAR room.
