Real Madrid's club channel launched an attack on the refereeing following Friday's loss to Real Betis in their La Liga match.
Real Madrid lost 1-0 to Real Betis in the fourth round of the 2026/27 La Liga season.
Real Madrid had a golden opportunity to score an equalizer after being awarded a penalty in the 92nd minute, but Kylian Mbappé missed it as the Betis goalkeeper saved the shot.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid demanded the penalty be retaken, claiming that Betis player Marc Bartra entered the penalty area before Mbappé took the kick, a request the referee rejected after consulting VAR.
The Spanish newspaper "AS" reported that Real Madrid's channel highlighted refereeing errors in yesterday's match against Real Betis, insisting that Bartra's foot was touching the penalty area line at the moment the kick was taken, and that he subsequently entered the box, directly affecting the course of play, according to the channel's claims.

The channel also pointed out that Betis player Héctor Bellerín appeared to have one of his feet touching the penalty area line as well.
The channel leveled sharp criticism at the refereeing performance, describing referee Hernández Hernández's conduct as inconsistent and expressing astonishment that a referee could be so unfamiliar with the laws of his profession.
The channel stated: "If this had happened with Barcelona, the penalty would have been retaken; moreover, if Carlos Espejo's goal had been scored for Barcelona, it likely would not have been disallowed."
The channel believes the decision not to retake the penalty stemmed from oversight or incompetence. Although the referee insisted that Marc Bartra did not touch the penalty area line, the club argued that even if he hadn't, he used the ground to push off, meaning he interfered with play nonetheless.
The channel also criticized the VAR official for failing to alert Hernández Hernández that the penalty should be retaken according to VAR protocol, ultimately insisting: "The penalty should have been retaken."
