German Hansi Flick, head coach of FC Barcelona's first football team, spoke about his team's match against Athletic Bilbao in the English League competitions.
FC Barcelona's first football team is preparing to continue the current 2026/2027 season following their match against Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish League competitions.
Barcelona faced Athletic Bilbao on Thursday, within the framework of the postponed first round matches of the Spanish League for the 2026/2027 season.
The "Spotify Camp Nou" stadium hosted the match between Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao, which ended with a 2-0 victory for Barça.
Barcelona had won their previous match against Elche with a clean five-goal scoreline in the second round of the Spanish League "La Liga".
Young Egyptian international star Hamza Abdel Karim did not participate in the match for the second consecutive time, while the match witnessed the first appearance of Rodri, Barcelona's new signing.
Flick said in the post-match press conference: "Julián Álvarez? I don't want to talk about this; he is not one of our players. I don't want to comment on this. We won our second match, and I am happy."

He continued regarding Atlético Madrid's statement: "I don't want to talk about it; it's not my job to discuss this matter. Deco and others handle this work, while I do my job."
Regarding not starting with an out-and-out striker: "I don't know if we would have settled the match earlier with an out-and-out striker; I don't know. We had chances, and we played the way I wanted."
He added: "We have potential and must improve, but we are defending well. Bernal and Pedri are delivering great performances, and perhaps in the next match I will start with another striker."
Concerning not conceding any goals: "We defended extremely well; this is the second match in which we haven't conceded any goals. We need to reorganize ourselves, but I am happy with our level; we have collected 6 points."
Regarding Rodri's first appearance: "Everyone is happy about his joining Barcelona; he is an ideal model for our style of football, but Bernal also delivered a perfect performance."
Concerning Anthony Gordon: "He has speed and sharpness that perfectly suit our playing style; this is what we ask from him. He arrived only two weeks ago and has the ability to improve his level."
He concluded regarding the UEFA Champions League draw: "I am focused on today's match; I didn't pay attention to the draw. We didn't discuss it much; I think it's great. The most important thing is where we will start the match and who we will face."
