Saudi press reports revealed a surprise regarding the stance of Saudi club Al-Ittihad Jeddah on signing Imam Ashour, a player for Al-Ahly.

The Saudi newspaper Al-Wiam reported, citing exclusive sources, that Al-Ahly of Egypt was the party that initially offered Ashour to Al-Ittihad Jeddah officials.
The newspaper added: "Al-Ahly offered the player to Al-Ittihad in an attempt to sell Imam Ashour and secure a suitable offer for him, bypassing Adam Watani, the player's agent, due to disputes with him."
The newspaper concluded: "Al-Ahly failed to reach an agreement with Imam Ashour on a contract renewal due to a disagreement over the player's salary."
