Denzel Dumfries, the new star of Real Madrid, spoke about his feelings after joining the royal club during the current summer transfer window, expressing deep gratitude for being part of the Spanish team.
Real Madrid signed Dumfries during the current summer transfer window from Inter Milan for 25 million euros, on a four-season contract.
Dumfries was officially presented as a new Real Madrid player yesterday Friday, with the Dutch international donning jersey number 24 for Los Blancos.
Dumfries said in statements quoted by the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo": "I am extremely proud to be at this club and excited for the start of the new season. I believe playing for Real Madrid is every player's dream. Being here carries great responsibility. We have our goals, and I am very happy and proud to be here. I am ready to contribute to the team."
Regarding Real Madrid's 15 UEFA Champions League titles, he added: "It truly feels amazing to see the Champions League trophies; it's incredible and makes me even prouder to be here, giving me motivation to achieve victory. It's wonderful to be here with the president, seeing the trophies and titles. Now, my goal is to win more."
He clarified: "Moving to Real Madrid is a dream come true, and I feel proud. When I was younger, I used to write things on my wall to see them every day until I achieved them. I don't know if I wrote about playing for Real Madrid because it's such a huge achievement, but I am very proud of my football career and extremely happy to be here."
Concerning the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, he continued: "His presence here means a lot to me; he is part of Real Madrid's history. Everyone knows him and what he has done for this club. I am very proud to stand beside him, to greet him, and to be a Real Madrid player. It is truly a great honor for me and my family to be with him. Our goal is to make him proud of us."

He continued: "I already knew some players in the current Real Madrid squad, and we played against each other before. But being here within the team and in the locker room, alongside so many outstanding players, is incredible. Having such a wonderful coach and an excellent technical staff is truly amazing. Our goal is to maintain this high level and win more titles."
He went on: "I am always eager to win and want to fight for victory. I am a player who adds some vitality to the team. My position is defender, and I love defending strongly to help my forwards shine. You can expect me to give my utmost effort in every match to achieve our goals."
He added: "My family means everything to me, and being alongside my children and wife is special. I am a son, a father, a husband, and a brother. Therefore, being here with my entire family and seeing how happy my children are with me means a lot. It is a very special moment in my career to be here with them, and I hope to experience more such moments."
He continued: "I played once at Santiago Bernabéu when I was with Inter Milan; the atmosphere and the fans were amazing, and the stadium is enormous. Now, I am wearing the Real Madrid shirt and am excited to play."
Regarding tonight's La Liga match between Real Madrid and Espanyol, Dumfries concluded: "We face a very important match, as is always the case with the first game of the season. Of course, we want to win. I am happy to play my first league match with the team and look forward to it alongside all the players. Let's go."
Dumfries will face strong competition for the right-back position at Real Madrid alongside his teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold during the new season.
