Ahmed Hossam Mido, former Zamalek star and current media personality, commented on the White Knights' draw in their first match of the 2026-2027 Egyptian Premier League season against Al Ittihad Alexandria.
Zamalek drew 0-0 with their counterpart Al Ittihad Alexandria in the match held last Friday evening at Cairo International Stadium, in the first round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Mido wrote on his personal account on the "X" platform: "A slow start to the season is expected given the circumstances the team has gone through."

He continued: "Zamalek will improve with matches throughout the season. Maamoun Gamal is not a magician who can prepare players in 20 days and go out to win league matches against teams that are more physically ready. We must be realistic; this is the situation, and no one will be able to change it!!"
Zamalek will play their next match against Bank of Alexandria in the second round of the Egyptian Premier League, on Wednesday next, August 26.
