Omar Gaber, captain of Zamalek Club, commented on his team's shaky start in the Egyptian Premier League following their draw against Al-Ittihad Alexandria.
Zamalek drew goalless with Al-Ittihad Alexandria in the match held at Cairo International Stadium during the opening round of the Premier League for the 2026-2027 season.
It was not an ideal start for the White Knights, the defending champions, who dropped two points in their league opener.
Gaber stated in remarks to On Sport: "We wished to start the league with a win because it was very important, but praise be to God."
He added: "We delivered a somewhat reasonable first half, but the tempo dropped in the second half due to lack of readiness. However, we do not want to tear down the temple; we are still at the beginning of the season, and what lies ahead will be better."
He continued: "We could have sealed the match in the first half, but we wasted the chances that came our way. Now we must focus on what is ahead."
He went on: "We will address the negatives that occurred; this match serves as a lesson for us to improve ourselves in the coming period."
Concluding his remarks, the Zamalek captain said: "I thank the fans for their support and backing, and we promise them that we will give our utmost to make them happy."
