Barcelona issues an official statement regarding the departure of its player

FC Barcelona has just issued an official statement announcing the departure of one of its players to the Portuguese league, specifically Sporting Braga, during the current summer transfer window.

Barcelona is preparing to begin its campaign in the new 2026/27 La Liga season next Sunday evening against Elche.

According to Barcelona's official statement, player Tomy Márquez has left the Catalan club to join Sporting Braga under a contract that includes a clause allowing Barça to re-sign the player and receive a percentage of any future sale.

Barcelona stated: "We wish Tomy Márquez the best of luck in this new chapter of his career, and we would like to express our appreciation for his commitment throughout his time at the club."

Tomy Márquez joined Barcelona's La Masia academy in the summer of 2015, progressed through the club's ranks, and continued his development. He spent only a few months on loan with Dam FC during the 2023/24 season.

Tomy Márquez excelled with Barcelona's U19 team and Barcelona Atlètic before making his debut with the club's first team against Real Mallorca on February 7th of last year, followed by an appearance against Alavés, meaning he played two matches under Hans Flick.
