Several media reports have agreed that Omar Marmoush is close to joining Tottenham from Manchester City, after the Egyptian player reached an agreement with Spurs on personal terms.
Roberto De Zerbi, Tottenham's manager, spoke after his club reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Savinho for £85 million, while entering separate negotiations to sign Marmoush.
In response to a question about Savinho, De Zerbi said in remarks published by the British outlet "Football London": "It is not right to talk about players before deals are officially completed."
He added: "I am very happy; we have not yet finished our work in the transfer market. It is an important phase. We have made several great signings and contracted outstanding players who possess excellent behavior, spirit, and character."
De Zerbi continued: "However, in the Premier League, victories are not achieved simply by relying on big names and star players; there are many examples of this in recent years. We must earn our wins in matches, and therefore we must reach the highest levels in terms of character, passion, values, and playing style as well."
Concluding his remarks on the controversy surrounding Tottenham's spending in the transfer market, De Zerbi said: "I have heard much about the phrase 'Tottenham's money, Tottenham's money.' I have been passionate about football for a long time, and I have seen all competing teams spend money. Perhaps Tottenham's spending in the Premier League is considered a crisis by some."
A sense of confidence prevails at Tottenham regarding finalizing the deal to sign Omar Marmoush next week. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the Egyptian player's desire to join Spurs, and negotiations between the two clubs are advancing. Meanwhile, Savinho is in London after his transfer to Roberto De Zerbi's team was finalized, and he will undergo medical examinations.
