Via Btolat

Media personality Ahmed Shoubir spoke about the injury of Youssef Belamri, the left-back of Al-Ahly's first football team, with a cruciate ligament tear during the Spain camp.

Al-Ahly defeated Spanish Badalona 3-0 during their preparation camp in Spain, which runs until August 20, in a match that saw the Moroccan full-back sustain his injury.

Ahmed Gaballah, head of the medical staff for Al-Ahly's first football team, revealed that the player underwent medical examinations and an MRI, which confirmed he had suffered a cruciate ligament tear.

Shoubir said on his radio program on "On Sport": "In my personal opinion, this is the first time Al-Ahly has announced a player's cruciate ligament injury so early."

He added: "Today is August 13 and the transfer window closes on the 15th, and some speculation has emerged suggesting Al-Ahly might exclude Belamri from the squad, given his absence will range between 7 to 9 months."

Shoubir continued: "Could Al-Ahly remove Belamri's name from the squad? I don't know, but announcing the injury this early is new for Al-Ahly."

He went on: "It's not a pleasant injury at the start of the season. The player was with Morocco at the World Cup and wanted to prove himself with Al-Ahly. We wish him a speedy recovery and return."

He concluded his remarks: "Some are asking whether Al-Ahly can sign a left-back, but have you already written off Belamri from the squad? These matters need time."
