Egyptian international winger Haitham Hassan completed his transfer to the ranks of Scottish Celtic, for a period of four years until 2030, coming from the ranks of Real Oviedo.
Haitham Hassan had successfully passed the medical examination before joining the ranks of Scottish Celtic, and the Egyptian star who contributed to Egypt's national team advancing to the round of 16 in the World Cup expressed his happiness with this major move in his career.
Haitham Hassan said about his joining Celtic: "Moving to a club like Celtic at the age of 24 is a big step in my career, what attracted me of course is the greatness of the club and its history and fans, one of the biggest clubs in Scotland that competes every year for titles and participates in European competitions, and for a young player like me, this step represents a major development in my career and helps me move to a higher level, and now I have the opportunity to test myself in a new league different from Spain and it will help me develop and mature as a player".

Haitham Hassan was preceded by four Egyptian players who played in the Scottish league, and Tawfik Abdullah is the first of the players who began his career with Zamalek Club and also played for Al Ahly Club and moved to play in the Scottish league in 1922 with Cowdenbeath until 1923.
Mohamed Latif, the Zamalek star and former sports commentator, also wore the Glasgow Rangers shirt for one season 1935-1936, and Mostafa Kamel Mansour, the former Al Ahly and Egypt national team goalkeeper, guarded the net of Queen's Park Rangers between 1937 and 1939.
Mostafa Kamel Mansour had guarded the net of the Egypt national team in the 1934 World Cup held in Italy, and is the first Egyptian and Arab goalkeeper to participate in the history of the World Cup against Hungary.
On the Arab players' side, Tunisian Hamed Namouchi wore the Scottish Rangers shirt from 2003 until 2006, alongside Algerian Ibrahim Hamdani who also played for Rangers from 2005 until 2008.
Algerian former defender Madjid Bougherra also wore the Rangers shirt in 2008 until 2011, and Moroccans Marwan Zemama and Abdel Salam Benjelloun wore the Hibernian shirt, with Zemama playing from 2006 and moving on loan to Emirati club Al Shaab in 2008 until 2009 to end his association with the club in 2011, while Abdel Salam Benjelloun played from 2006 and also went out on loans to end his association with the club in 2010.
Moroccan Farid El Alagui also played for several Scottish clubs such as Falkirk, Dundee United and Hibernian, and Tunisian Bilel Mohsni wore the Rangers shirt for two years from 2013 until 2015.
Moroccan Hamza Igamane also wore the Rangers shirt in 2024 for a year until 2026, and Tunisian Sebastian Tounekti has been playing with Celtic since 2025 until now.
In addition to the Egyptian and Arab players who have previously or are still playing in the Scottish league, there are nearly 80 African players whose feet have touched the pitches of the Scottish league.
