Liverpool FC announced reaching an agreement with Spanish Barcelona to sign the Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo on loan during the 2026-2027 season.
The English club indicated that completing the deal depends on the player obtaining a work permit and completing registration and international clearance procedures.
The English club confirmed that Araujo will wear the number 33 shirt with the team during the new 2026-2027 season.
Araujo joins the ranks of the "Reds" after a career spanning several years with Barcelona, during which he participated in more than 200 matches wearing the Catalan club's shirt, becoming one of the standout elements of the backline in recent years.
The Uruguayan defender won three Spanish League titles with Barcelona since joining the team in 2018, the most recent of which was last season, and he was also awarded the Catalan club's captaincy earlier this year.
Araujo completed his temporary transfer to Anfield Stadium today, strengthening Liverpool's defensive options ahead of the new season in a deal the "Reds" hope will give the backline more strength and experience.
Araujo will play under the leadership of Andoni Iraola, who is seeking to build a strong team capable of competing in various competitions during the new season.
